Tattoo Aftercare


NON ADHESIVE BANDAGE

  1. Treat your new tattoo as a fresh wound

  2. Remove wrap after a few hours. Wash hands before handling tattoos. Gently wash the tattoo with antimicrobial soap (dial) and water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  3. Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor ointment (a&d ointment)  2-3 times a day, but no bandage. 

  4. For the next 2 weeks, gently wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day and re-apply ointment / lotion after you clean it. Ointment for the first 4 days, the remainder of time use unscented lotion. 


DO NOT 

  1. WEAR TIGHT CLOTHING

  2. GO SWIMMING

  3. LEAVE YOUR TATTOO EXPOSED TO THE SUN

  4. PICK OR SCRATCH YOUR TATTOO


ADHESIVE BANDAGE / DERM SHIELD

  1. The first derm shield bandage should stay on for 3-4 days. It is normal for blood and fluid to collect underneath. 

  2. Wash hands before handling tattoos. Remove bandage by gently peeling bottom corner, down and outwards. Never pull the bottom corner upwards. 

  3. Wash gently with antibacterial soap (dial) and pat dry with a paper towel. 

  4. If advised, place a second derm shield bandage on the tattoo after 24 hours. (Mostly for large pieces)

  5. After you remove the bandage, use unscented lotion every day until the tattoo is no longer dry/scaly. 


DO NOT

  1. SUBMERGE BANDAGE UNDER WATER

  2. LET IT SIT IN THE SUN

  3. SCRATCH BANDAGE


If fluid comes out of bandage/ or tattoo is exposed due to it peeling within the 4 days, this means the tattoo is now at risk of infection. Please revert to the NON ADHESIVE BANDAGE instructions for the remainder of the healing process.
